Usually, successful traders at IronTrade have a very different lifestyle: they are more active, have an excellent work-life balance, eat healthy food, etc. All of these are very important when we talk about personal development. We’ve interviewed some of our most prominent traders and made up a list of several things that help them.
Today we will look through these 4 simple rules and habits that all successful traders have in common. The main idea here is to make them permanent and practice them all the time, not only once. Literally, anyone (not only traders) can start practicing them to improve themselves and become more efficient. And to become similar to those whom we admire and look up to. Realizing these rules may fundamentally change the quality of your life.
Purpose
The main secret of success lies in the sense of purpose. I.e., setting up clear goals and achieving them. If you know where to go, you can achieve anything. It works for trading as well. You can set up what you want to accomplish in a week, a month, and a year. And make sure that you made it as clear as possible. The more specific and clear trading goal you set, the better.
You can write your trading goals on paper or blackboard and stick them nearby so you can always see them. Split your big goal into several small ones and write it down. You can mark the goals that you already achieved to see the progress visually.
Planning
Setting up a big lifetime goal is a good idea, but you can make up a small to-do list for a day or week for better motivation. Many successful traders always make notes about their upcoming tasks or meetings.
It is also helpful to create schedules for the next week and put the most important tasks first to finish them asap. It will help you to feel productive every morning. Later, you will spend the rest of the day in a good mood and with high energy because of realizing your targets.
Mindfulness and active lifestyle
Body exercises are essential. Sport should be a part of your life because low activity affects your body and your mind. It produces stress, anxiety, and even depression. Traders know about this. Other people could also feel it during quarantines recently. Remember that our bodies are not made for sitting still. They are designed to moving and acting.
When you exercise, you help your body, mind, and soul. Depending on your personal interest, you can do any exercise: yoga, running, gym, karate, or dancing. It would also be beneficial if you do concentration practices, meditation, or something like this. However, if it sounds too advanced, don’t worry. You can start with regular sports or games: tennis, football or swimming. Anything that makes your body moving is fine. If you have never done it before, start with small steps: go for a walk every day before or after your work. You have to start somewhere, so it also counts.
Saying “Thank you” to yourself
Gratitude is a mighty instrument that helps strengthen positive energy and allows evaluating past performance and highlight achievements. Start to learn about this, and make a log of gratitudes where you can write something about what you’ve done well every day.
If you feel that there is something else that we can add to this list, feel free to share it with us! The IronTrade team is always happy to hear from any traders.
